I basically can’t stop writing about cycling and tech

Mixtre.com is the home for a cyclist, hiker, and tech nerd for a guy named Scott (that’s me!). I’m 50 years old now, but I’ve been riding bikes obsessively since I was 5.

The name of this website came from a mixture of several things: my love of cycling and fitness, an irresistible urge to document everything I do, and my fascination with tech gadgets (and gear). I’ve even got a YouTube channel!

Hey y’all! Posing with my trusty ‘ol 2009 Specialized Rockhopper Comp the 64° cafe at UCSD in San Diego.

Cycling has always been a part of my life. I grew up out in the country in southeastern lower Michigan, and my bike and I were inseparable until I got my driver’s license in 1990.

Luckily it didn’t take long for my love of biking to return, and in 1995 I purchased my first real bike (an entry level Trek 850). I’ve been riding thousands miles a year ever since.

I moved to San Diego in 1997, which only made my love of cycling even stronger. I discovered what real single track was, how to ride on busy streets without getting killed, and most importantly – how to feel confident wearing spandex.
